If you've been around Northeast Ohio very long, when someone refers to the Big 3, your mind automatically goes to the Ohio State Buckeyes, The Cleveland Browns, and Lebron James.  Well, I guess one doesn't matter much anymore...

Here at Crossroads, we refer to the Big 3 as our Worship Services, Serving, and Discipleship.  And if we aren't careful, we may think that one doesn't matter much anymore.  Nothing could be further from the truth. Each environement we create at Crossroads is designed for a specific purpose - to help you become a more fully devoted follower of Christ.

As we head into the fall, it's easy to overlook Discipleship.  It's not nearly as exciting as Worship or rewarding as Serving, but it does matter according to Matthew 28:19.  In this verse Jesus said "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations"...

Real life change begins when a person commits to folllowing Jesus and learns more about what He wants for our lives. Our fall programming at Crossroads offers several opportunites for you to learn more & grow closer to Him.  Have you considered a Journey Point Class on Wednesday evenings or joining a Men's or Women's Bible Study or perhaps being part of a Small Group in Grouplife?  If you are interested in real life change - Discipleship Matters.  Pick the envirnment that is right for you and make this season your best yet.

Wow!  It's finally here!!!  The New kids Construction Zone opened with its new look on Sunday August 22, 2010 after a quick remodel of our entire Children's lagre room space.  A Special thanks goes out to everyone who helped with the project.  Without over 50 volunteers from designers, painters, capenters, dry wallers, cleaners, sanders, and many others, the room would not have been possible.  Thank you for your hours of dedication to the Children of Crossroads.  The new room will help facilitate the Construction Zone Time for Kindergarten through 4th Grade on Sunday mornings during both of the AM Worship Services at 9:00am and 10:30am, Preteens on Sunday nights at 6:00pm, and our AWANA Council Times on Wednesday nights starting September 8th!  The room is equipped with new video, lighting, and tech to help reach the next generation for Christ.  If you have not stopped in the see it, you are welcome anytime!

Worship Arts Ministry PDF Print E-mail

Well, I can't believe it's coming up on 6 months I've been here at Crossroads.  It has truly been awesome and my entire family has been incredibly welcomed.  We are in our permanent home and I can see God working all around us.  I really enjoy serving with all the great people here!  God has something special in store for Crossroads and  it is a privilege to be involved in it.

As we continue to move forward in both worship and arts ministry, we are in need of several people.  I am looking for band members.  If God has gifted you in music and you are feeling a tug to be involved, please give me a call.  I would love to speak with you!  Also, do not be afraid to give me songs for Sundays.  I can't guarantee that they will be used, but I love to get a pulse on the congregation and some of the favorite worship songs over the years have been songs brought to me by people in the congregation.

I am also looking for tech people.  This is probably our greatest need.  We need people who can serve by doing sound, lights, and the computer.  No great skills are required, just a willingness to learn.  It is a really fun place to minister!

Also in the arts area, we are looking for people to video as well as people to edit video.  Again, we can train you in the proper techniques.  You will need to be have some computer knowledge to be able to edit video, but to shoot video, we simply need people who enjoy that and can be trained in the proper shots.  Please contact me to volunteer in any of the worship or tech ministries.  God bless you!  Mike Rose, Worship Arts Pastor

The Game of Life PDF Print E-mail

We have had a great first two weeks of our new series.  I am enjoying this series more than any time I actually played the game.  I guess it might have something to do with the fact that I never won.

But really, the whole premise that life is a game is crazy.  It is far from a game!  It is full of so many dynamics, so many moments of joy, its share of disappointments, its heart breaking times of sorrow, and as it unfolds, so many wonderful memories.  So, as we continue this series, I hope you will be just a little better at "Life."  Jesus told us in John 10:10 that He had come that we might have LIFE and have it more abundantly.  I hope to see you Sunday.  Hey, pick up a phone and invite someone to come with you.  We can all use help in "The Game of Life."

Small Group Discussion Starters #5 PDF Print E-mail

Dear parents,

We finished our five-week small group study designed to help students understand God's purposes for their life. The first week, "Reaching Out to Your Friends," focused on helping students understand that we are created in God's image and we have the opportunity to share God's love with the world. Week two, "Making Significant Connections," focused on understanding the basic need that humans have to be connected with others on a deeper level. Week three, "Growing in Your Faith," focused on the truth that we were created to know God and grow spiritually by spending time with God.

Week four, "Serving in Ministry," focused on the truth that God's unique design provides us with the privilege to serve others. This week our final study was "Honoring God In All That You Do," and we focused on the truth that God rested on the seventh day to show us the importance of taking time to stop and express our love and worship for God. Using Genesis 2:2-3 and Psalm 46:10, we saw that we were created to honor God.

Sometime this week, generate some discussion with your teenager about honoring God:

  • What are some traits of a healthy attitude toward worship?

  • As a family do we honor the Sabbath as a day of rest, or does it look just like every other day of the week?

  • What are some great ways to prepare yourself to worship God when you come to church?

Thanks for your love for God and your love for your teenager.
